Setting up a New Month in my Bullet Journal

Settign up a new month pub.jpg

I’m super excited to be setting up a new month in my bullet journal because I’m moving to a new home.  My first trusty bujo is finally full, well it is give or take a couple of pages but definitely not enough room to set up another month in it!  I’ll use the last few pages that are left for Zentangles, mandalas or other creative pursuits!

I’m slightly sad to be saying goodbye to my first journal.  It was my first love in the world of bullet journaling and it’s led me to a whole new level of organisation and productivity.  I’m also filled with excitement as I’m moving in to a rather beautiful emerald, dot grid Leuchtturm 1917.  With 249 pages, that’s 73 pages more than my current companion, so I’m hoping it last me a bit longer than the four months that my current journal has served me for.  I’m really hoping it will get me through to the end of the academic year in July, that’s five months away, but we’ll see.

In this post I’m just going to share my monthly pages for March – I’ll do a separate post on my set up of the earlier, more general, parts of my new bujo.

March 2016 Calendar page.jpg

As always I have my monthly spread right at the beginning.  I list events and birthdays in the box for each date and have a task list down the side for those tasks that I have advance warning of.  I also make a list during the preceeding month of the habits I’m going to track.

On the edge you’ll notice pink washi tape.  I’m not a huge fan of washi tape as I tend to get more wrapped on and around me than on the page, but I was really careful and marked along the side of the page here and on the first of the March monthly pages further into the journal.  I intend to do this at the beginning of each month using a different colour of washi.  I won’t be able to have more than seven months of bullet journaling in here as I only have seven rolls of washi!

March 2016 habits and goals before.jpg

My first monthly page is my habits and goals tracker.  I’ve been looking at the Level 10 Life method of setting goals and I plan to do that before the start of the month, so I’ll add broken down goals to this page when I’ve done that.

The next page is ready to track ‘The Best Things Today’.  I’ve loved doing this since the start of the year.  It’s great to have so many great memories to look back on.

March 2016 online before.jpg

This is my online tracker – it encourages me to participate in online challenges like the #planwithmechallenge on Instagram and reminds me when I’ve got a planned blog post to write (although I do more planning of blog posts in my blog bujo).

I’m hosting a #zentangleinspiration challenge on Instagram, you can read why here. This is the page where I will create my bank of inspiration.

March review before.jpg

This may seem slightly strange, but I put my monthly review page in before I’ve even started the month!  This is because I like to jot notes down as the month goes along.  I haven’t always completed a weekly review so this has been really useful to already have written out before I start.

New monthly layout March 2016.jpg

I’m going back to having a weekly overview before I start my dailies; this has worked for me in the past and allows me to see what’s going on at a glance before I start planning out my week.  The days are colour coded as I’ll draw my daily headers in the corresponding colour.  You probably noticed that all the headers on the pages for March are green.  I’m going to stick to one colour for each month as, together with the washi tape at the edges, it will make it easier to find things as I flick through when the journal starts to fill up.

Do you bullet journal or has this given you inspiration to start your own?
