Day 27: Sliced Bread

Most of us have heard the saying, “That’s the best thing since sliced bread!” What do you think is actually the best thing since sliced bread?

I’ve thought long and hard about this one and, although it took me a long time to come to a decision, the best thing since sliced bread is where I buy my sliced bread – online shopping.

Online shopping – This is what keeps me sane.  I used to really enjoy taking little B to the supermarket as he would smile at old ladies and generally be cute and cuddly and if I timed it right, he would fall asleep on the way home so I could put all the shopping away in the cupboards and put my feet up for an hour.  Now it’s a different story. His arms are now long enough to take things out of the trolley – I know, most children put things in, but little B is different, he likes to push his hand down beside the seat and grab whatever he can reach and throw it overboard.  For the first couple of occasions I though ‘isn’t he clever’ but after a jar of pasta sauce created a rather large mess on the supermarket floor, I’ve been slightly less keen to take him!  So online shopping is now the order of the day, I book my slot for a Saturday morning and make sure the order is up to date before I go to sleep on a Friday and I’m sorted for the week.  Menu planning helps me with this and shopping this way means that I’m far more away of what I’m putting in my virtual basket, meaning I spend less on utter rubbish.
