I’ve spent the year working as a Behaviour Support Teacher, visiting schools to provide advice, support and training for staff to help them meet the Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs of the children in their care.
It’s an emotionally exhausting job. Teachers themselves are stressed, Social Care and Health support services are dwindling and parents are leading busier lives than ever before.
The impact that this has on our children, and those who work with them every day, is immense.
I know I have helped from the positive comments from staff and parents, and from the number of children who aren’t excluded from their school community.
As we approach the end of term, make sure you thank your child’s teacher for all their help. They’re doing an amazing job of helping your child to grow.
