October Sleep 16: Dinner Time

Due to the fact that we have two small people at home, our mealtimes are pretty early as we tend to eat together as a family.  I was going to write that we ‘like’ eating together as a family, but any parent would see right through that one!  Every so often the kids are fed by a grandparent because we’ve had a meeting at work and on those evenings we tend to eat later.  This plays havoc with my sleep.  I just can’t settle when I’ve eaten too late.  The converse it true too, I wake up starving hungry way before my alarm if I’ve eaten too early.

Does the time you eat impact on the quality of your sleep?  Have you thought about changing the time of your evening meal to see if it makes a difference?  Would you be able to make changes, or would your family’s schedules not allow it?

For those of you who’ve been inspired to change the timing of your evening meal, either today or in the past, how did it go? How do you feel now that you’ve done it? Did it improve the quality of your sleep? Add your comments below.

Come back tomorrow for your next nudge into peaceful sleep.
