September Productivity Prompt Day 29: Say No

How often does a colleague ask you to do a task that you really don’t have time to do and you find yourself saying ‘yes’?

How often do you attend a social function because you feel you have to be there?

Today we’re thinking about saying no for our own wellbeing. Sometimes there will be occasions where you really can’t or shouldn’t say no, but on those other occasions it might be worth considering declining an offer. Think about it slightly selfishly- is your life going to be enriched by participating? Are you going to enjoy it?

It’s ok to say no. Obviously you have to think about how you’re going to say it because you don’t want to appear rude and sometimes less explaining can be better.

Sometimes you have to be selfish and think about what’s best for you.

For those of you who’ve been inspired to say no, either today or in the past, how did it go? How do you feel now that you’ve done it? Add your comments below.

Come back tomorrow for your next nudge into productivity.
