September Productivity Prompt Day 12: Put Your Phone Down

How often do you sit down with your phone thinking ‘I’ll just check social media for 5 minutes’ or ‘I’ll just play one game’, only to look up from your phone and notice that far more time has passed than you had originally intended?

Don’t get me wrong, there’s good reasons for checking in with friends or relaxing with a game, but it’s easy to let it take over your life. Look how much you’ve achieved this month when you’ve spent a little time away from your screen and focused on something else instead.

Let’s all put our phones down for a short period today. Make a plan of what you’ll do with your time so that you have a reason to put down your phone.

When you have an opportunity, put your phone down and do what you had planned. Notice how you feel during the activity and afterwards. However you felt, that’s ok. It’s alright to feel a little anxious that you might miss something, but on the flip side what did you notice that you might not have done if you’d had a phone in your hand?

For those of you who’ve been inspired to put down your phone, either now or in the past, how did it go? How do you feel now that you’ve done it? Add your comments below.

Come back tomorrow for your next nudge into productivity.
